Man, Marvel Studios Co-President Louis D'Esposito sure is making the rounds. In a new interview with Collider, D'Esposito talks in-depth about his new short film appearing on the "Iron Man 3" Blu-ray, "Agent Carter." The short film features Hayley Atwell's return as Peggy Carter, the character she originated in "Captain America: The First Avenger."
"[Hayley Atwell] had seen [previous Marvel One-Shot short film] 'Item 47' and liked it very much," said D'Esposito. "She had read the script that we had developed, and she really loves the character, so she was on board. She also liked the fact that she got to show off some of her skill sets, that weren't shown in the previous film. And we got to see her fight. I think everybody has a little bit of an action hero in them and wants to show it off. So, with that combination, she said yes."
And now that Atwell's said yes to one more adventure with Peggy, D'Esposito realizes that there may be a need to tell more stories with the secret agent.
"What we've discussed is that there are going to be more Peggy Carter stories that we need to tell," revealed D'Esposito. "She is wildly popular. Hayley loves it, and we love it. What we'll do and how we'll do it has not been determined yet, but those discussions have started. It's in our consciousness that we need to tell another Peggy Carter story, somehow. Yet to be figured out yet, though."
The further adventures of Peggy Carter may have to get in line behind some other ideas for future Marvel One-Shot short films, which D'Esposito admits that "Agent Carter" writer Eric Pearson has been keeping track of.
"We have a file of them," D'Esposito said, referring to their unused short film ideas. "I don't know how many of them are in there right now, but some of our favorites are in there. As we get closer to the day, in talking with our actors, maybe something sparks. And now that they're becoming more popular, more people want to do them, so you never know."
